    Default Hardware Matrix Help

    Questions on Matrix…

I have a 12ft Z-Tree in the yard. 4 Zones, 4 Colors. I want to replace my 4 colors, with a Matrix over the tree. I saw the video on the CCR stands from LOR.. My questions is, could I get any DMX RGB strips and make a matrix out of them. I am not sure if Fireflis, or CCR or what is the is the best stuff to get. I found some other DMX programmable strips on Ebay, but I don't want to get something I don't like just to save a buck. I am guessing I would need 12 ropes to look good, and the Firefli lights are better price, but I really like the length of the CCR lights. The ones on ebay are even longer, 16', but I don't think you can trim them. Anyway, any help you can provide would be great. RGB and Matrix is my entire reason for wanting to make the switch to LSP, so I want to get the right Hardware too.

    Thanks.

I am doing the same thing and getting dream color 6803 IC strips and e681 controller. Now I am just trying to work out how best to sequence it. The one you saw on LOR was done using the Superstar lights (SSL) program. I have been research and from I have found out is the 6803 IC strip is the same as a CCR but you can buy each strip for 65 each. One e681 controller can run 16 strips and they are 200. So for about 1/3 the price of buying LOR products. Good luck and if you figure out a good way to sequence the way you see it on LOR website let me know.

Well you might be helping me with sequencing.. I have only played with demo and just non rgb stuff. So this will be new. Do they make extensions for those strands, so they can be placed evenly on the tree?

By extensions do you mean to reach the controller? If so my plan is to have the controller mounted up top to keep the wires as short as possible. You can have some length added from the strip to the contrller, but from my newbie understanding you have to be careful it is not to long, voltage drop can be an issue.

No, I thought that you Daisy Chain the Strips, so you would need to have a space. Like you have 1st going down the left side of tree, then about 6" over you have your next strip. If there wasn't some kind of Separation between strips, it would look like a long rope light that you just went up and down the tree with. But, I think what you are saying, if the controller at top of tree, each strip plugs into the controller, and not daisy chained. and you would just fan them out down the tree? Correct?

    Bryan,

You can set the 12 strips up just like he did, they plug directly into the controller, SanDevices

Not sure how you are setting up your tree but I am doing mine like this, Super Star Lights
    Scroll down to the tree.

Again sequencing will be the big issue.

I may go the pixel route… You can do the entire set up with the 681 for 700.00. Are they as durable? Sequencing should go pretty smooth if you set up a matrix in LSP… I'm not a huge fan of the "laser" look. I like when the tree is all on, and doing some cool transitions and designs. Which should be pretty easy to do with adding avi files?
