Default XLR 3pin male to Cat5 adapter pin out

I have one of these adapters. and I got to thinking about making sure that the data is being plumbed on the right pin for the adapter so I dont wipe out my hardware.
Is there an industry standard for these? Or would a continuity test from pin to pin be prudent? That way I can ensure the proper pin is being used on the Cat5 end plug into this adapter.
The reason I ask, is Ive read several times of people using the Blue pair and calling it standard, as well as the orange pair etc.
I connected a cut length of cat5 cable to the adapter, and tested the pin outs, and yes, it is pin 2 to orange, and pin three to white with orange stripe.

    Good to go.

With all the knock offs, nowadays you can never tell if what you have is right. I suppose it is better to check than assume, right?

    Heres a little sketch:

You are referring to DMX and not Renard(rs485) correct?
    Thanks

yes, the DMX(XLR male) to cat5 adapter I tested the pin out on pin 2 and 3. They came out perfect on the orange, and white with orange stripe leads.
I just figured it might be prudent to ensure accuracy before I started plugging things in.
