I bought a fujinon TV projection lens part number vp5110b (4 inch aperture)for a home made projector project years ago. The cost was about 20 bucks.
When the rest of my DMX stuff arrived, I placed about 6 of those 3 LED RGB modules under it, taped everything in place and shone it on the tree line behind my house.
This tree line is a row of 100+foot tall Douglas firs, about 90 feet from my back door. The result was actually very surprising. I took a photo but the resolution on my camera isn't the best even in night mode. But with that said the unique thing was the projector transmitted the light very well, and it made all the trees in the back look like they had jumbo sized color changing ornaments on them, all the way to the top.
I may play with this some more to see if I can get more light out of it. But I think this might be cool as another effect. I could mount this on the back side of the roof to light up the trees towering behind my house. A little work and I could make them dance over the trees.
I thought Id share this as it might be even better at closer range, and others could use it for their displays.
