Default Access to com port 5 denied

We've been having a weird problem with the scheduler in the latest version of LSP. When we update from 1.7.10199.1632 to the latest 1.8.10326.1055 the scheduler will not run the shows. We get music through the FM transmitter, but no lights. When I try to configure the output in the Scheduler, without changing anything else after the instal, I get the error that says "Access to com port 5 is denied". I have tried ports 4 and 6, as well, with the same results. I am going to try to make a video and will post it when it is done.

    Thanks....Darlene....Hans wife

Update: I made the video but it is waiting in line on Vimeo so I'm going to put it on U-Tube. We are running Windows XP SP3 on an HP Laptop. All will test and run great from the Sequencer, just not in the scheduler. I can role back to the 1.7 and everything works great, but I would prefer to use the scheduler from the new version so that I can create and save several shows, instead of just one.

Update 2: Ok here is the video link:

    Thanks for any help/ideas

    Hi Darlene,

The error you are getting means that something else has those ports open and cant be used.

You cant have both the scheduler and the sequencer at the same time using the same com port, they will conflict with one another.

I would suggest in the scheduler, deleting all the protocols that you have, the re-adding the LOR and see if that resolves the issue.,
    Thanks
    Mike

Wow...ok I tried that and it seems to have worked. I just did that a few minutes ago and it didn't work. Huh? Maybe it knows you are watching I'm going to run a test and I'll let you know what happens.

    Thanks for your help.

Ok, ran the test and I have sound but now lights. I tried opening the sequencer and changing it to com4, closed it, and then opened the scheduler. I tried to run a test show with no changes and I did not have lights, so I checked the Output Configuration and it will not let me set to com4 or com5. Keeps saying access denied. The sequencer is not open and it set to com4 and it still can't access com5. There is nothing else on this machine, that I know of, that would be using the Com Ports.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi Hans,

Are these real com ports or virtual ones created by using a USB port?
    Thanks

If your scheduler machine has access to the internet can you set up a logmein account and invite me to share your computer? I would be happy to look at it with you.
    Thanks
