Default DMX Output will stop after Save, LSP 2.0.12014.1630

    Hardware
Dell 1.73GHz Pentium, 2 Gb RAM, Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3
    SanDevices E681 with 2.020 firmware
GE Color Effects RGB LED 50 bulb string (one string only, thus only 150 DMX channels)

    Protocol
    E1.31 DMX over Ethernet

    Software
    LightShow Pro Basic Ver. 2.0.12014.1630

I have a simple animation-only sequence running without any issues, LightShow Pro output is enabled, and GE Color Effects RGB LED 50 bulb string is responding perfectly. I perform a minor addition to the show sequence, such as: ‘On Effect’, 1st bulb 100% red for 2 seconds. Without saving, I play the newly edited sequence, and all bulbs respond perfectly. Note that I do have the option checked-on for “Perform Distributed Effect Optimization (non-Deferred)”.

Now when click “Save” or do a “Save as…” and then “Play”, the bulb string does not respond; all bulbs remain off. After a “Save” or a “Save as…”, I have noticed that the ‘optimization progress bar’ in the lower-right remains at “100%”, lit up green the entire length.

If I now right-click in the grey bar, pull-down to maintenance tools, and select: “Optimize Entire Sequence”, the ‘optimization progress bar’ in the lower-right remains runs “0 - 100%”, lights-up green the entire length briefly, and then returns to “0%” and grey. Now if I press “Play”, the bulbs respond as expected (sometimes). Other times, this does not fix the problem, and I have to close and re-start the LightShow Pro application.

Has anyone else experienced this, or has a fix?

    Jim,

Thank goodness someone else is experiencing the same thing I am. I am new to LSP and I thought I was doing something wrong. Now that I know someone else is also experiencing the same issue, I think it is the software and not something I was doing. I am finding I am needing to save and restart LSP when I add an effect, but if I modify and existing effect (ie. modify color), it seems to work.

    For comparison, I am running an Intel i7 CPU @ 2.67Ghz, 6GB Ram and Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit.

    Protocol
    E1.31 DMX over Ethernet

    Software
    LightShow Pro Basic Ver. 2.0.12014.1630

    DMX Controler
Joshua 1 Systems P12R controller w/ 50 Pixel RGB Led string (Ray Wu Store) - 150 Channels

    Anyone else with an idea?

I'm starting with Lighshow Pro and also have the same issue in version 2.0.12014.1630.

Even a simple 3 chanel sequence don't light after save. The DMX light in my decoder still blink but lights don't go on.

Same here, I'm using version v2_0_12014_1630

I wasn't that concerned to begin with, but as my sequences progressed, it takes more time for the sequence to be optimized.

So If I make a change to a complex sequence and save and then want to test the real output I have to close LSP and then open it again, and the optimization takes a full 5 mins to re-optimize. Frustrating to say the least.

Even after optimization is complete, my saved sequences don't output.

Just to test I try with a litlle seq. only a 5 sec. ramp up in only one channel, I have output until I save it. No mather if I shutdown and restart LSP, with any previusly saved sequence I have no real output. DMX signal is present at the decoder (DMX to RGB strips), but no ligts on. When I get some time, I will connect the output to a DMX signal analizer just to see, what is sent.

    Thank you Fasteddy

I had not made an upgrade. It's my first install of LSP. Until I read this post I thought that this behavior is because I'm running a trial version.

Even with the limitation of output only the first 16 DMX channels, I'm trying to evaluate the possibility of use LSP to sequence with sound, some LED strips (RGB and 8603 type) for use in TV shows.

Next weekend I will try uninstall and install again, but this is not a good start. LSP seems to be a good product.

Think I have found what is causing my problem.
I'm with demo version. Any saved sequence that have more than 16 channels, when reopened, the output of all DMX channels are at zero level. If in the same sequence I delete all channels above 16, save it, close and reopen the 16 channels output normally.

I'm aware of the first 16 channel output limit in the demo version, but don't remember to read anywhere to not try with sequences with more channels. I thought that even in demo version, if we use more channels, the software just ignore them, and don't output anything above 16.

    Hope this help anybody.
