    Default Our 2011 Train

See it here train 2011 daytime on Vimeo

I had a pin shear that held the drive wheel to the axle so the train derailed the other night. It fell three feet and did quite a bit of damage the engine and the cars. I have repaired the engine to the point it can run but need to buy some more welding rod to fix the cars. Will get some night shots in the next day or so.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas

    Great job mike!
how much time did it take to fabricate the truss, bridge and track work?
Are the batteries in the engine tank? and what circuitry did you use for the remote / motor power driver?

    impressive!

A couple of weeks to fabricate. I built a jig for the track to speed up production and a spreadsheet to calculate the height of each trestle
2 12 volt batteries in series to power the 24 volt wheel chair motor housed inside the boiler.
Built a 50 amp pwm motor controller from poloulu that accepts RC signals.
RC transmitter is a Spectrum dx5e with corresponding receiver attached to the motor board.

RC transmitter provide signals for on/off, speed and directional control of the motor thru the PWM controller board.
