RGB condusion in the sequencer
I have been playing with LSP. The standard16 channel controllers are pretty much straight forward. Although a little tricky to figure out for a newbie
What I have come to under stand though playing with the RGB DMX controller, is each controller channel represents 3 channels 1 for red, 1 for green, and 1 for blue.
Ive been digging in the video tuts, on how to collapse each channel as a single visible RGB channel. Then as Im not sure why, when I followed one video tut to the tee, I could not replicate the effects.
I am trying to create a template for my home, with all the various thing I will decorate. Then I could use this template as a base for all songs that I sequence. This would remove the need to rebuild everything from scratch each time.
Then of course the effects. For instance Id like to make a wiping fade, or fill effect as the beginning of a song. starting at my garage, and moving through to the house. Even a large scale chase effect.
I have tried to orient the items I will control in the sequencer channels to make the sequence more intuitive. But its a bit tricky.
Any help on any of these?
I know Im brand new to the sequencer, but Im diving in feet first.
I currently have two small DMX 3 channel controllers coming, two power supplies for them, and 20 3 led RGB modules to play with, and eventually make flood lamps with. I also have the ethernet to DMX plug dongle coming. I have yet to get the dongle from USB to DMX.
I will be using the cheap little white 3 channel controllers for my display.

try setting up the controller as an RGB controller 1 channel ( 3 dmx channels) then you can pick colors and it will represent correctly

Can you define your hardware in a little more detail? 1 pixel which would be 3 channels or 3 pixels which would be 9 channels.

Reason: Calrfication of question.

"I currently have two small DMX 3 channel controllers coming"
90 % of all 3 channel DMX controllers are 3 channels 1 ,2 ,3 so 1 pixel i would think. I have seen very few 9 channel dmx controllers
Whats your Hardware ydeardorff?

Sorry for not being more clear, I should have also asked "What is your hardware"?
EDIT: I have restated my first question.

Sorry about that. I have purchased two of the white small 3 channel DMX controllers
Like this one eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
Then I picked up these 20 of the modules like these
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
Then 2 matching 12 volt 2Amp power supplies
A USB to DMX 512 interface (3 pin female), and a male 3 pin
XLR to RJ45 CAT5/5e/6 Adapter
Im in the process of purchasing my first renard protocol teensy board from solstice werks. This is just a starter kit for me to get things going and figured out.
I started from scratch and found when I configured the DMX controller better, it comes up with each of the 512 channels in the universe as 1 channel per 3 effects RGB. So it may not be right, but it looks better.
Like I said Id like to make a template for all of the features that will be fixed in my display. Eaves of the house, windows, leaping arches etc. So I can just grab the template each time I want to make a new sequence, rather than having to rebuild the whole deal again.
I just want to ensure I have all of the controller options set correctly first.
Eventually, Ill have more than 20 of these 3 channel controllers, running off DMX, and then ofcourse the christmas lights running off the 16 channel controllers. I may have as many as 6 of them.

Also look at www.Hollidaycoro.com Dave has these modules and the rectangular ones for $1.29 a piece (also controllers, power supply's etc.)

Do you have a direct link to the 1.29 ones?
i found them at nearly 10 bucks plus shipping.

The lights are here: RGB Basic Modules
I have a number of both these types of lights, with a few hundred more planned for next year

very nice thanks.
i thought you meant the 3 channel controllers were 1.29.
Im looking at doing the leaping arches in RGB rather than lights. Seems easier, cheaper, and should look much better in the end.
Now I need to find the ribbon cord to them. So I can start making custom lengths.
Do the 3 channel controller require the programmer and program to set the ID? Or can this be done through the sequencer, via the dongle?
