    Default Virtual Controllers Vs. Layers

This is a newbie question, but from what I have been able to determine based on looking at the video's and forum comments, it looks like layers are the preferred way to do things when trying to group channels as it gives you great versatility.

    Am I missing something?

No you are not missing anything. I love working with layers. You can make any layer that you want and tie specific channels to that layer. You could for example have a layer named "Green" and have all of your green lights linked to that layer. Then you could have a layer named "Roof Outline" and link any channels on your roof outline to that layer including any green roof outline lights that you have linked to the "Green" layer. To me virtual controllers do not give you nearly the flexablity layers do.
